The Art  of Caring
 On Saturday, August 27, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm enjoy the annual Art of Caring, an auction and party which benefits Baptist home and residential hospice programs and the Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief. The event will be held in the new Zambezi exhibit pavilion at the zoo and will feature several dozen artworks curated by Catherine Erb and Ken Hall. For more information see this link.

A Wider Angle film series

Wondrous Boccaccio

Part of the A Wider Anglemonthly film series at the main library, Wondrous Boccaccio is set in 14th century Florence where 10  young men and women set out to escape the black plague .They go to a country estate and spend the time telling stories.  This is based on Giovanni Boccaccio ‘s 1358 book The Decameron. The film screens on August 10  at 5:45 pm at 3030 Poplar  and is free. In Italian with English subtitles.
Where Have you Seen This?
Thorne Edward's twin mosaics Tragedy & Comedy are currently housed in the atrium off the courtyard at Overton Square, but you might have seem them around 1960 at the old Front Street Theater or subsequently at the Memphis Academy of Art! Thank you Loeb Properties for bringing these back to public view.

The Impact of Globalization on Fashion, Music and Culture

Young Arts Patrons presents a panel discussion on June 22 at the Brooks from 7-8:30 pm.  Join moderator Eileen Townsend and panelists for a public conversation presented in conjunction with the exhibition Hassan Hajjaj: My Rock Stars, organized by the Newark Museum and on view through September 4.  Young Arts Patrons is  a leading-edge Memphis-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the ideas and risk-taking that fuel a creative and innovative arts community.
